Three Primary Types, Three Primary Tiers
When discussing or building weapons, there are always three types (or categories), to keep in mind.
There are also three different Tiers which these categories fall under.
The objective of this page is less HOW as it is more WHAT. If you would like to know HOW this can help you with your base then see the Base Advice Page (Click Here), but if your objective is to learn WHAT each weapon does then continue reading.
Although it often seems that when building ships there are golden weapons that outperform others in almost every circumstance, when bases are involved there is incomparably less variety. The recent trend, as of September 8, 2016, with bases is that they're starting to become more diversified. That is, there is beginning to become enough useful event technology available for bases, that there can be more variety than historically possible. As such, knowing the Type of weapon, and the Tier of a weapon, will be incredibly useful in knowing how your base works. It is one thing to copy a base build (See Bridge 3, Bridge 4, or Bridge 5 Designs), and another to know how they work - or even build your own. Therefore, AF Presents: Base Weapon Information.
- Long Range Weapons: Have a range over 7500m, generally with a large minimum-range (Sniper-Protection)
- Short Range Weapons: Have a range under 7500m, generally with no or very little minimum-range (Blitz-Protection)
- Support Weapons: Don't necessarily do damage as they do assist other weapons. Example: Arrestor Beam & Net Torpedo
There are also three different Tiers which these categories fall under.
- Researchable Weapons: May be researched in your Arms Lab and are your starting weapons.
- Blueprint Weapons: May be obtained via blueprints, either VEGA or VSEC, and will generally replace your researched weapons.
- Event Weapons: May only be obtained during events, and will either completely suck or be a "MUST HAVE."
