Cruisers: What Are They?Cruisers are an average-speed class designed to be adaptable and suit many different styles of gameplay. They are the only class to have two shield slots, and have an average of four armor slots at higher tiers making them the tankiest class in the game. They have a firing arc of 270 degrees and are the most often used ships for blitzing, and sniping decoys, by far. Due to the balanced natures of cruisers, they can have a wide variety of tactics unavailable to other classes; meaning that despite their ease to pilot, battles between cruisers rely heavily on a person’s ability to out strategize the opponent. Cruisers counter both frigates and cutters, but can be kited by a decent frigate pilot, and cutters, being faster, will generally run away. They are countered by destroyers (with the largest bonus damage of any class), and battleships which can easily outrange cruisers. Due to this, the usage of cruisers has declined in PvP steadily, but they are still heavily used in Strategic or Landmine Blitzing.
Counters: Frigates (50% Bonus Damage*), and Cutters (50% Bonus Damage)
Countered By: Destroyers (200% Bonus Damage), and Battleships (50% Bonus Damage) *All Bonus Damage Numbers are using MK5 Values for the classes listed. |
Fighting With CruisersCruisers, as mentioned, are not very difficult to pilot. You're a tank, so you get close and blow them up, simple right? Not exactly. Due to their adaptability, they have the highest possible number of tactics compared to any other class, so tips?

Fighting Against CruisersIf you're fighting cruisers, odds are that you won't be using cutters (as you're countered), or destroyers (as cruisers will just run away). Frigates can be used but are not commonly seen as hurricanes and tornadoes are the only high-leveled frigates. This leaves you using battleships preferably, or cruisers if the enemy runs from those. If you are using cruisers against other cruisers, then follow the tips in the Fighting with Cruisers section and do your best to win.
If, however, you are using frigates then what you want to do is kite the enemy cruisers. This can be difficult if they're inside their carrier range, and more so if its a carrier providing a speed boost (in which case you will be unable to kite unless you have one as well). Specifics on how to kite can be seen in the Frigate Tips. Battleships are practically the same, you will want to kite your enemy, but due to the 125% range boost battleships have, and unique firing arc, it is far easier. Tips on that can be seen in Battleship Tips. |
