Carriers: What Are They?Carriers have the lowest default speed in the game. They are the only class with the exception of the corvette to have a 360 degree range arc making it impossible to get in a blind spot. Carriers are different from other classes in that it qualifies as a flagship meaning you can only equip one per slot. They also can only equip squadron-type weapons making them more of a support class than one capable of combat. To go along with that role carriers will have a status effect field which buffs or debuffs enemy ships which get in its range. They have no built in counter and MK Upgrades lower squadron weight, increase damage to all ship classes, and increase shield damage.

Fighting With CarriersUtilizing carriers effectively is different than it is with most other classes. As you will only have a single ship, most often supporting other ships, you are more interested in using it as a support class.

Fighting Against CarriersFighting against carriers can be somewhat more difficult than it is fighting with them. There are situations where it would be smart to target the enemy carrier, in that you can't kill their squads fast enough - so they're doing too much damage, or you know that you face certain death so it's better to kill it so the next person has a better chance. These scenarios however, are more the oddity when it comes to fighting carriers. Most of the time, you will want to focus on the ships that they are guarding as they will be the ones doing damage.
What makes carriers deadly is much more the fact that their squads do massive amounts of DPS. With the exception of the Legion Battleship, this ability is limited to them. If you can find a way to neutralize the swarms, generally by using AoE weapons which are extremely effective on them, then you neutralize their ability and the largest problem when fighting carriers. |
