Battleships: What Are They?Battleships are a slow-speed class designed with bonus range and a sideline firing arc. They have the most weapon slots of any class in the game, with the Hellfire reaching eight at MK4. Due to their superior firepower they are the most used class in farming and kiting. Their firing arc consists of two 90 degree ranges opposite of each other allowing them to shoot from two sides at once (damage is not halved if only one side is shooting, but doubled if both are). Due to their 125% range boost, battleships will kite ships which are slower than them, often inside of a speed field with stasis weapons which will fire before the opponent gets in range. The only built-in counter is against cruisers which will often run when confronted. They are countered by both cutters and frigates, not only by built-in bonus damage, but by the stasis resist offered to the two classes. Regardless, battleships are almost always used for FvF or Farming, and rarely in basing.
Counters: Cruisers (50% Bonus Damage*)
Countered By: Cutters (100% Bonus Damage, 50% Stasis Resist), and Frigates (100% Bonus Damage, 80% Stasis Resist) *All Bonus Damage Numbers are using MK5 Values for the classes listed. |
Fighting With BattleshipsBattleships, due to having a 125% range boost, are all about kiting fleets. They have high firepower and low armor, meaning that when the enemy gets in range, they will die very quickly. The best strategy therefore, is to prevent this, how?

Fighting Against BattleshipsBattleships can face a threat from every class, even those it counters. Despite countering cruisers, cruisers are the faster ship meaning that if battleships don't kite or use stasis properly, you can win with cruisers. Destroyers can be used to win battleships, but often the enemy will run, or flank you, in which case you'll likely lose. If it's battleship vs. battleship, then follow the tips in the Fighting with Battleships section and do your best to win.
If you are using cutters to fight battleships though, then the wedge formation actually works best as it'll form a pyramid that can shoot down squadrons. You'll want to focus on the battleships not the carrier!!! If you are using frigates you're better off in a line as your ship arc will cover side to side. Again, you'll want to focus on the battleships and kill them one by one before moving for their carrier. For tips on both, you can see the Frigate Tips or the Cutter Tips. |
Fun Facts
- Prior to the rebalance update, battleships were only used for farming as they weren't viable in FvF, and still aren't in basing (exceptions apply).
- The Dread Battleship originally took 18 days to build (Empty!), with a max weight of 9800 at Mk1 to a Zeal's 6800.
- Battleships were all named after negative emotions up until the release of the Vigilante Battleship.
